I graduated high school with only few knowledge on how to operate computer. I'm afraid even pressing the power on/off button of the system unit. All that I can do upon using the computer was to open the "PAINT" application and draw whatever. Why paint? In my whole life, I love art. In fact, when I came out a decision on what course I am going to take in college, I prefer to choose either "ARCHITECT" or "DRAFTING". But because of financial problems, my parents can't afford. My father is only a mason, a carpenter, a farmer, and sometimes a fisherman. My mother is only a manicurist and a pedicurist. That's why their income every week is good enough for the needs of my family such as daily foods.
When the enrollment in college was going on, I am forced to enrolled at Southern Leyte State University - San Juan Campus located at San Juan, Southern Leyte (3 towns away from my place) taking the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. While studying, I was also a working student. But it doesn't last long. Being a working student was not easy. Time was conflict. My study was affected, so I stopped. I accepted drawing and lettering just to earned money for my daily personal needs. Though my parents give me an allowance but not enough. I have an allowance every week not more than 300 pesos (including the bus fair - Php.25.00). Sometimes, I went back to school with only 50 pesos money left in my wallet. I understand because I'm not belong from a rich family. I don't want to forced my parents to give me thousands of money (hehe). Whatever they gave, I had to say "salamat nay or salamat tay".
I wondered why other students came from a rich families doesn't give attention to their study? They received allowances from their parents, but what they did? Drinking liquors, smoking, drugs and others. In my side, it's a great conscience if I did that things.
Being a poor, it gave me more self confident. It gave me a challenged to study hard in order to reach my dreams not only for my self, but for the seek of my family and future family.
The time has come that I finished my study. Nowadays, I'm working at SLSU-San Juan, as Job Order Employee. I was assigned before at Curriculum Office, Admin. and Finance Office and Records Office and currently assigned at Internet Laboratory Office.
I would like to acknowledge my family, my friends, instructors in college and also to my special someone, Anjenette S. Ybañez and to my son, Ethan Bryle for the inspiration in my daily life. Wherever I go and whatever I do, I'm fully confident that all of my problem is just a trial. Someday, all of this will be okay.
Lastly, I am very thankful to our Almighty God for the knowledge and strength He gave to me.
